Why is a copy of the Mona Lisa made from coffee-cup-pixels in a parking space with mindless tedium from a set of “place-the-dot” instructions somehow cool? The true art is Leonardo Da Vinci.
I agree with this Matt character, let’s just post classical paintings from now on.
I can’t agree more with you
It’s cool because the person replicated a classic icon (the Mona Lisa) with a modern icon (coffee) It is also cool because the artist spent many hours recreating it, and using a completely original medium to do it. So quit being so critical. You’re probably just bitter because you only use your coffee cups to drink with haha. And the fact that I had to even defend this picture pisses me off because I despise most art and are critiques anyways. And now I sound like one… blah! Art history and analysis is lame!
You are tottaly right it´s very original and Mona Lisa is like a culture symbol.
Matt, got an analprobe ?
I believe that some call it postmodernism
I would have to agree for the most part. I’m not a big fan of avant garde art, and the whole “installation art” scene especially (ppl stretching ribbon for miles, covering entire buildings in foil, etc.) often makes me roll my eyes. I mean, are we going to stretch the term “Art” as far as that ribbon?
It’s like a musician that spends all his money on concerts with helicopters, fancy lights, and effects to compensate for the fact that his music sucks. Of course, you could also look at it as “building an experience rather than a lasting artwork” which is what I most often hear when people talk about installation art. *shrug*
To each their own I guess…
How about a nice big cup of Shut The Fuck Up?
can you make a Mona Lisa reproduction out of cups of those?
You need to lighten up bro. haha.
The Mona Lisa of Starbucks…
Thats a lot of handjobs.
Idiocracy.
There are starving people in H–no, just kidding, that’s awesome.
But … think of the coffee …
Coffee is gross. I would only be upset if they wasted hot cocoa.
I think so!!
If coffee with cream sits out for a long time, would it eventually start to get bad? Solution: have a big coffee party and everyone can drink from the artwork.
Smart guy ^<
They should have this artwork on Venus, that way the coffee would always stay warm.
well, even now her eyes STILL follow you!!
Leonardo Da Venti.
Perfect!
This is your best work EVER, dono!
THIS ROCKS!!
I love art…
I *LOVE* COFFEE…
This is *PERFECT*! haha
So like, uhm… where’s all the doughnuts?? lol ^_~
They’re over there, in the recreation of Starry Night.
HAHA. i like your thinking.
Hmm.. The women in the picture is Monalisa,,interesting..
I saw this in person at the sydney aroma festival last year. @_@
cappuchino da vinci wuz here…
Talk about latte art. Wow.
not art if you use a computer to do the math before hand
Who says math isn’t art?
Who said you couldn’t drink the Mona Lisa? More coffee, please!!! Great work.
I think it’s cool because it’s a refreshing look at an old classic. We’ve been Mona Lisa’d to death, on her historical importance and if she’s a female version of Da Vinci himself, but here somebody got a neat idea and forced us to look at our preconceptions. Besides, how long do you think that took to put together? Show some respect!
this IS cool. bravo.
Creative, unusual, time consuming.
No one else was going to say it…
This is amazing! And all my coffee does is make me jittery and have to pee.
i have come to the conclusion that her eyebrows fell out from an overdose of caffeine.
This is the best beer pong ever
3604 cups broken into the factors are 53×68 cups. With a cup diameter or 8 cm this piece of art is 4.2 x 5.4 metres (or 23 square metres). Looks bigger on the picture though. Could they been have using bigger cups or is it the perspective?
Shouldn’t this be called teh “mocha lisa”
I hope they have a way to keep the coffee hot
