Great, except there’s no engine powering that chainsaw.
And I don’t see a pitcainy rail on the saw. He’s just holding the saw flush to the rail on the gun.
Uhm.. the chainsaw is attached to the gun, you can see the railmount screws, so he isnt just holding it there. Plus there IS an engine, only it is an electric one, because gasoline\diesel would be way too heavy and unpractical (If you still can’t see the motor now, it’s the thing hee’s holding in his hand).
Considering the Geneva Conventions relates to the treatment of non-combatants (the sick and wounded; prisoners of war; and civilians), I suppose, technically, you’re correct… if someone chose to use it on a non-combatant, that is. But then, so would hitting them with a fish…
I guess I’m thinking of a different treaty, then. There was another treaty that limits the types of weapons soldiers can use, also requireing tracers in magazines so the enemy can see where you’re shooting from, and other things.
I think it has to do with the fact civilians can get hurt by certain weapons. Like how landmines can still blow up and blow off kids’ legs and stuff years after being buried.
The Geneva Convention also put limitations on the types of weapons that can be used in war. It includes things like the following:
Types of knifes and blades ( wound has to be able to be stitched easily )
Types of wounds a weapon can cause
Types of ammo ( no hollow points )
Biological and Nuclear limitations ( not sure but think Biological is covered )
Wrong on the tracers. they are for “walking in” your line of fire, to help you put more bullets on the target. Has nothing to do with letting the the enemy see you.
Though they do work that way if you aren’t careful…
Sorry, but I’m almost positive you’re thinking of a treaty that doesn’t exist. Tracer ammunition was developed to see the flight path of the bullet, giving gunners better aim. Most tracer rounds have a delaying element and only light up when a certain distance from the gun, further obscuring the gunner’s position. And if you think that preventing torture of POWs, murdering civilians, or use of excessively cruel weapons is bullshit…well, there’s something really wrong with you, I’m afraid.
“also requireing tracers in magazines so the enemy can see where you’re shooting from”
I never heard about that rule. Where did you find it?
The treaty you were thinking of is probably the Hague Rules of Land Warfare or the The United Nations Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons (CCW or CCWC), concluded at Geneva on October 10, 1980, but none of these deal with tracer rounds.
I believe the convention you’re looking for is the same one that bans the use of expanding bullets. I think it’s the Hague convention, but I’m pulling that from the top of my brains, so it might be wrong.
Doesn’t even have to make it through a limb. That thing would rip right through the soft squishy parts, shreadding organs or just mangling them and leaving them the bleed to death. The real limiting fact on this, would be the weight of the weapon and its bulk in close enviroments.
Also: Geneva Conventions? Really? Why even mention that? As if this thing would even get any use in combat or like any soldier would want to have that monster take up space used for a fore grip or lum.
Clearly just some fun garage work to bring some fun bit of fiction to life. Like those people who build Vash the Stampede revolvers.
Firstly, the Geneva Conventions relate to non-combatants and to PoW’s. The *Hague* Conventions refer to the weapons permitted in war, but even then, I think chainsaws may well be a bit of a grey area.
Secondly, you can quite clearly see the brackets that are attaching it to the rails on the gun.
Thirdly, that’s hardly a massive blade, so the engine powering it isn’t going to be that big.
It’s entirely feasable that some bored engineers decided one day “Hey, wouldn’t it be cool to attach a chainsaw to a M16!”.
1. Not only do the Hague conventions specify weapon and ammunition types, they also specify the types of wounds that can be caused. Specifically, use of a blade that causes a frayed wound is against the convention – that pretty much eliminates the chainsaw, just as it eliminated the tri-blade trench knife and serrated combat knife.
Not really. It seems like this, in its current form at least would still be a bit of a liability.
If you’re trying to engage the zombie horde at range, the saw attachment would make the rifle seriously front heavy making it very hard to keep the rifle raised and on target.
At close range, it would make a lot of noise and draw zombies into you and if the saw mechanism snags (quite likely giving the congealed nature of zombie tissues) then you’re in serious trouble.
Also, I can see this thing kicking up a hell of a lot of splatter, spraying zombie blood and guts all over the place, which if you’ll recall your Max Brooks would be seriously bad, seeing as zombie tissues are toxic and if you brought this thing down on its head, even worse, spraying potentially infection brain matter.
This would be a terrorfying weapon for use against humans, for flat out intimidation factor from the potentially hideous tearing and mangling wounds it could cause, but against Zombies (The Max Brook kind at least) its still a weapon to avoid
Wow…He’s got it “mounted” on a rifle designated for medium-range sniping…I’m gonna guess HK 416, 417, or a Barrett REC7…either way, marksmen don’t trade their bipod for a chainsaw…
In the right hands, this thing would be the most deadly weapon ever, and not to the person holding it.
But, win is in the eye of the beholder. View this how you wish.
I’m pretty sure a JDAM is far more deadly than this, even in marginally competent hands. And far more effective against people hiding behind reinforced-concrete walls.
You can put a scope on an assault rifle…there’s nothing wrong with that. Besides…seeing how he’s wearing an Army uniform I don’t think that’s the M16A4 like the Marine Corps uses. So that narrows it down to a few choices…the HK 416 or 417, or the Barrett REC7…the barrel shroud is too long to be an M4. The HK 4 series and the Barrett REC7 are meant to be more along the lines of battle rifles which offer better range and power in the exchange of accuracy when fired in fully-automatic. So the scope is perfectly justified.
He’s wearing ACUs and a red beret. He’s an Army Ranger, and having worked with several Rangers before, I can guarantee that they’re just bonkers and awesome enough to look at something like that and go, “F**K yeah! Gimmie!” and be able to use it. They’re loads of fun if you’re not a twit around them.
Besides, that kind of weapon isn’t going to be useful on people. That’s quite obviously the latest in weaponry in our arsenal when the inevitable Zombiepocalypse happens.
Genius, the Rangers wear tan berets and have for a number of years. They previously wore black berets until the entire Army went to the black beret, with the exceptions being the Rangers, Special Forces in Green Berets and Airborne wearing “red” maroon berets. Consider yourself educated
M-16 or AR-15 with a flat top upper with flip up sights, free float 16″ barrel with birdcage flash suppresser. and it doesnt look like an x64 to me. it’s a mid range at leupold at absolute best. It is on what appears to be the x64 mount, for what reason I dont know. I’ve got a mid range scope on my AR-15. All you really have to do is attach a 22″ (I think someone makes a 24″ barrel too, maybe Rock River Arms or DPMS: not sure) bull or heavy barrel to it and you have a perfectly good short/mid range sniper rifle. The whole M-16/AR-15 platform was specifically designed to be completely modular for exactly that reason.

Because it makes a perfectly-good rifle extremely forward-heavy, is a great way for the shooter to cut his fingers open, and is totally useless except at point-blank range. And before you tell me it’s to cut open doors: That’s what an undermounted shotgun or grenade-launcher attachment is for, loaded with a breeching charge, blowing the lock off in a fraction of a second. The only place where this would see any use is in a video game.
DUDE I KNOW THAT GUY! that’smy best friends brother jonathan! he lives, well his brother lives just down the road from my house, known the family for YEARS
That makes me want to join the Army now!
Russian army has had these for years, we are working on bear with chainsaw arms now.
what?
do you not know? in soviet russia, tree climb bear, and army join you.
HAH! WIN!
perfect for a zombie apocalypse
My thoughts exactly.
So… Should we be worried that they’re getting prepared for this? Lol.
meh, I’d believe there is such an attachment for a gun, but it’s real use would be so mundane.
In before “Gears of War” reference.
In before “Evil Dead” reference =D
In before Warhammer 40k reference.
No wait, In WITH a warhammer 40k reference.
In the grim future there is only WAR!
Hail to the king, baby.
grooovy
Hi :3
Yep, Ash would’ve given his right arm for one of those…
I say he’s using it wrong. Hook it up so he can wield it like a chainsword from 40k and he’ll be in business
It’s the left4dead upgrade
Great, except there’s no engine powering that chainsaw.

Nope, It’s real. It is a cordless electric chainsaw and it DOES work.
Look CLOSER at the black box. That’s the battery. Look above and below it, that is where the rail mounting clips are.
Have a look at this too:

LOLZ! Love it… Being a redneck is GREAT, I enjoy it. Anyone else pick up on the beer can popping at :24? Awesome win.
look closely, it is bolted to the gun, I really had to look but after reading your post I did and there are two bolts holding it in place.
Contingency plan for “day of the triffids” events?
zombie attack!
Wait, is that an m4 with a sniper scope or am i seeing it wrong?
So you call it a “win”….cheezus! What about a club with a bear trap attached to it…also a win, isn´t it?
Hell yes it is.
STOP STEALING WEAPON IDEAS FROM SOVIET RUSSIA!!!!
This is 100% real, btw.
And extremely against the Geneva Conventions. Although that doesn’t matter because the geneva conventions are total bullshit anyway.
Considering the Geneva Conventions relates to the treatment of non-combatants (the sick and wounded; prisoners of war; and civilians), I suppose, technically, you’re correct… if someone chose to use it on a non-combatant, that is. But then, so would hitting them with a fish…

Is there really a treaty like that? That would be very stupid. Srsly, the goal of a war is to win it right? not to win it fairly…
Ofcourse, I HAD to send this to my brother who is a total gears of war geek xD
I think it has to do with the fact civilians can get hurt by certain weapons. Like how landmines can still blow up and blow off kids’ legs and stuff years after being buried.

Law of Armed Conflict. Mostly the treatment of captured combatants.

Oh really? Is that a fact professor? Read a book.

you truly are an idiot……… time for fail blog
You wouldn’t think so if they came after you with one of those …
Nope. I’m batman.
I believe the convention you’re looking for is the same one that bans the use of expanding bullets. I think it’s the Hague convention, but I’m pulling that from the top of my brains, so it might be wrong.
Bayonet version-2.0 hahaha
Looks like it’s electric powered and there may be a thumb button for running it on the rifle.
Electric is better than gas, only takes a second to cut through people’s limbs instead of several seconds for tree limbs.
Doesn’t even have to make it through a limb. That thing would rip right through the soft squishy parts, shreadding organs or just mangling them and leaving them the bleed to death. The real limiting fact on this, would be the weight of the weapon and its bulk in close enviroments.
The thing this doesn’t show is how this thing shoots plasma lasers. Not to mention, the blade can be lit on fire.
That would be only the coolest thing ever.
Super old.
Also: Geneva Conventions? Really? Why even mention that? As if this thing would even get any use in combat or like any soldier would want to have that monster take up space used for a fore grip or lum.

Or gunswords. Now those are fracking stupid.
Gunblade lol
I think I remember a guy telling me they make something like this but it is used for cutting through doors and cheap walls.
Only problem is when you run into a steel door in a brick wall.
Demo charge, like they’d use for steel doors and brick walls already
Way better than some little bayonet!

Well, this gives a whole new meaning to “Fix bayonets!”
Baby, I love you like a beserker. That is all, thank you for the win XD
Max Brooks is going to have to update his Zombie Survival Guide.
Perfect! My first thought was “That’s someone’s SIR attachment”.
Not really. It seems like this, in its current form at least would still be a bit of a liability.
If you’re trying to engage the zombie horde at range, the saw attachment would make the rifle seriously front heavy making it very hard to keep the rifle raised and on target.

21st century bayonet. Semper Fi!
He doesn’t look like much of a baker, more like a f*ckin BUTCHAH
Is it just me, or does that guy seem a little….terrified of holding that thing?
Needs moar Tacticool.
No clip inserted, though. Is he supposed to go “pew! pew!” and make chainsaw sounds or something? It needs a splash shield, too.
It’s nothing like the Bayonets they had back in my day … which is probably a good thing, with the Zombiepocalypse drawing nigh and all.
Won’t do you much good against a cacodemon, though.
So. Much. Win.
OREGON FTW!
Gears of War
When shit turns real
I see what’s wrong; nowhere to stash the bayonet.
Dude, that IS the bayonet!
Wow…He’s got it “mounted” on a rifle designated for medium-range sniping…I’m gonna guess HK 416, 417, or a Barrett REC7…either way, marksmen don’t trade their bipod for a chainsaw…
Note: I do know it doesn’t actually work
this is how we win the iraq war.
Yeah, let’s take a perfectly good rifle and make it really front-heavy and dangerous to hold! Epic fail…

But, win is in the eye of the beholder. View this how you wish.
I’m pretty sure a JDAM is far more deadly than this, even in marginally competent hands. And far more effective against people hiding behind reinforced-concrete walls.
…Okay, you have me beat there.
Umm… I don’t think anyone here noticed, but… is that a x64 long-range sniper scope on an assault rifle? FAIL…
You’re assuming that the person who made this actually understands practicality in battle. Either way, it’s a considerable fail.
You can put a scope on an assault rifle…there’s nothing wrong with that. Besides…seeing how he’s wearing an Army uniform I don’t think that’s the M16A4 like the Marine Corps uses. The modern bayonet.
well at least he is ready if the locus were ever to attack
The military have been too much gears of war XD
is that an m-4 or a sniper rifle? the rail looks like a standard m-4 or m-16, but it looks too long at the same time.
i CANT WAIT until these go on sale during the zombie apocalypse!
You act like there will still be an economy at all during that time.
A lower price will make me feel less guilty when I’m looting.
finally people are learning from gears of war
I want one.

This was so cool, it turned me on.
Is that bad?
its a DIY Lancer!
Your 2nd Amendment at work!
What is this doing here? EPIC FAIL!
how is that an epicfail? that is one of the more badass wepons i’ve seen

can i hang with him when the zombies come?
too bad he did not do this to a real gun.
all the guns, why m16?
would have been way better on a g3
A real Lanzor ! Where are the Locutes ?
Thats Guns Plus in Fayetteville, NC. Ft Bragg.
Surprisingly Awesome. A little bit Shocking… Hmmm Shock….and Awe? Isnt that something you lot were going for? I think this bloke is on to something
Could be wrong, but I think that’s an SR25, which is a rifle meant for long range marksmenship combat, so a chainsaw would not be too effective.
DUDE I KNOW THAT GUY! that’smy best friends brother jonathan! he lives, well his brother lives just down the road from my house, known the family for YEARS
I want this on my MTOE. It may be useless, but it scares the piss out of haji. And it’s a great recruiting tool too!
Yeah, because we need more people in the military like yourself, idiots and racists.
and we need more douche nozzles just like you, to tell us all how to talk. thanks mommy!!
ooooh thats fkin cool
AMERICAN HERO!
let’s go GOW on their asses!
Mess with the best, die like the rest. Nazis thought the same thing.
Whatever.
