Awesome! If my English teachers gave me lit like this I’d be more interested in their classes

Isn’t there a book, though?
Looks pretty cool.
This is reminiscent of the “choose your own adventure” books, but it’s an original piece of artwork by Luke.
What disturbs me is that both options take you to the same page. So even if you believe in free will, it is powerless to help you.
…ding ding ding! We have a winner!
Whoa… it’s almost as if that was the premise of the joke.
Of course, you always have a choice beyond those the system gives you. Why not turn to page 71 instead?
What makes it even better is that this is a webcomic – so there is no page 71 to turn to. Nor is there even a page 72. Of course, you’re free to believe that there is if you want…
There is no spoon.
The cake is a lie.
my spoon is too big
I spooned with your mom.
This is pure win. PURE WIN. It’s power is awesome.
My mind tells me to just go ahead and turn to page 72, but…imagine the secrets, the answers, the unknown bits of knowledge that could reside in pages 57 through 71!
Must…check…other…pages…must…not…defy…universe…
GAH! CONFLICTION!!
Ware can I find this book? This is a must for my collection!
Except that the uncertainty principle of quantum physics calls bullshit on this one. Also, actually, “neuroscience” has proven shit.
Whether you like it or not, Einstein! ^^
Except, the fact that the uncertainty principle has no application in macro physics calls bullshit on this post.
Unfortunately, all the uncertainty principle does to determinism (mind you, other quantum physicists such as Einstein did not believe the uncertainty principle undermines determinism. This is just what the copenhagen school of thought believed.) is replace a determined causualistic universe with a random one.
I never realized Einstein was a quantum physicist…
He wasn’t. One of his more famous quotes is “God does not play dice.”
The response from Neils Bohr, allegedly, was “Einstein, stop telling God what to do!”
actually, it has been proven that if it were possible to determine the state of every particle in the universe at a given time, then, using the correct formulas, it would be possible to determine the state of every particle at any other given time. of course, this is only determinism to a certain extent.
You get to page 72 either way, so where is the point?
That’s the point. That’s what makes it a joke.

I bet I know what’s at the end of the journey. It’s going to be Jesus, who has a glowing head and wants a lifelong relationship with you.
Evangelists like to use the kind of strawman argument which is on the page.
Actually, the fact that it doesn’t really give you a choice would turn off most Evangelicals–it’s all about making the choice for them. There WOULD be an option to turn to page 71 in an Evangelical’s book. It would just have hellfire and brimstone on that page.
Do you see the irony in your comment? Ignorantio Elenchi, as they say–a great con game. Build a straw man in your first statement, and then accuse your “oponent” of using a strawman argument in the second.
For the record, the author’s name is Luke Surl, not “Luke’s URL”
And his webcomic (http://www.lukesurl.com/) is well worth reading regularly.
Leibniz FTW!!! Go predeterminism!
I’m just going to read both anyway…
well , i still have the choice to finish the book or not. hence, page 72 is not my only destination , unless am linear
yes, we have a free will =)
Welcome to The Matrix.
God damn it, Nietzsche, get out of my book!
Unless this page is “Page 72″ (which isn’t, it’s 56) this one’s not EPIC.
“The first rule of Tautology Club is the first rule of Tautology Club!”
-XKCD
This is not photoshopped, it was just Paint, lousy too, cuz the number is not even aligned.
I would promptly turn to page 63
Love these little cartoons
I bet 90% of all readers turned to page 57. (I would)
