Pure win vo WMG and Kontor New Media….

“This video contains content from WMG and Kontor New Media. It is no lonver available in your country.”

Yes, i do (not!!!) like it to live in Germany :(

  2. TheUndefy says:

Is this what they use to create light sabers?

  3. tsa says:

Brilliant! I want one of those.

  4. RoaKaun says:

Pure, unadulterated WIN….! One could take over worlds with that.
I’d pay good money for that little shiny object.

  5. Your innerself says:

    Cold fusion or warp drive?

  6. Lee123red says:

this is how they discovered the structure of the atom. and its a WIN!

  7. marquillos says:

the disco ball of the future. great for decorating

  8. Kelila says:

If the Powerpuff Girls ever hosted a rave party, this is what it would look like.

No, really, it’s awesome. I sat here mesmerized during the entire video. What can I say? I like shiny, flashy things that spin. @.@

  9. BAReFOOt says:

WTF, The video is blocked by the coke-snoring hooker-addicted media reproduction and artist extortion mob cartel! (Since I worked with those guys, I know that that is actually their exact and correct description. Seriously. You can’t even get a deal done without sex and drugs!

  10. buchta says:

    DO WANT! pure awesome
where can I get one? srsly

  11. cvsprinter says:

Wow. I never in my life thought I would hear a techno version of “Adagio for Strings.”

  12. ace5762 says:

I would love to see the maths behind this.

    • Andy_ says:

The maths? Looks like one potentiometer for each of the three motors and one PWM controller (potentiometer?) for the LEDs (strobes).
The nice morphing effects are the result of the camera shutter speed relative to the moving of the LEDs. This could have potential when using a microcontroller for motor and LED control… definitely WANT one of that! :D

  13. cTo says:

Holy cheese weasel! I hope the creator patents this design cause every raver in the country would buy one. Hell I would too.

    • Andrea M says:

As a board-certifed raver and club kid, I can verify this. I am currently stone cold sober and my face went into Happy-Andrea-Pass-Me-The-Vicks-Light-Show mode. Open mouth smile, eyes wise open, and leaning in close. Totally a natural reaction to seeing spiny flashy lights.

Now, if they had only picked a better track for the video instead of crap overplayed trance.

    • rickCa says:

yes, before its idea gets copied

    • joecichlid says:

Imagine replacing the LEDs with a laser diodes and that effect would be shown on the walls. Like being IN the ball of light.

  14. trekkie47 says:

It’s the yarn ball that ceiling cat plays with.

  15. Eidolon says:

Wow! To quote Will Smith ” I gotta get me one of these!”

  16. Jeanette says:

    Where can I get one???

  17. smartass says:

    @gash hotspotshield FTW ;)

  18. UKSponge360 says:

WOW!!! Scale that up a bit and you could probably use it to travel through time or something!!!

  19. TheAntiVillain says:

    WANT!

  20. insadragon says:

How to keep a stoner occupied for years at a time FTW lol

  21. Aeyvi says:

where do I buy one? I’m totally serious. the magnitude of want for the shiny is nearing the danger level.

  22. Carlos says:

The most awesome thing I have ever seen. Ever.

  23. TurboTarg says:

Very cool. Wish I had the knowledge to build one of these. Nice adagio for strings in e minor mix as well. =^..^=

  24. franki1313 says:

    RASENGAN!!!

    • CaBBagE says:

That’s what i was goin’ to say!

    • randomnerd says:

Legend of the Stone of Gelel.
      Seven Color Rasengan.
Being performed by a freaking table.
If they ever make a Naruto movie without the cartoons, they need one of these.

  25. Fred Fredburger says:

That guy could make so much selling those….i want one 10 feet in diameter *drools over shiny spinning object*

    • montei says:

unfortunately the physics behind it might make it tear itself apart if it was 10 feet across. plus the noise from the machine would be horrendously loud, but I’d still get it anyway too even if the physics didn’t work cuase i’d tinker with it.

  26. kimbo says:

Is this person related to Tesla?

  27. Bill says:

If you obstruct the spinning with a stick, a fallout will commence.

  28. Deathy5000 says:

Would not want to stick my finger in there.

  29. DaveO says:

Holy shit. I have friends that work on lighting design for some fairly well known artists. They would shit four times if that was a) 5 times bigger b) computer controlled (midi possibly) and c) available for purchase. Nice work my friend.

  30. DecoyOctopus says:

Did……..did I just travel through time?

  31. Vespian says:

God the programming for that must have been intense.

  32. stanporq says:

Who would ever vote this awesome video thumbs-down???

  33. weeeeee says:

Wow, I wonder how many times that came apart and put holes in a wall? crazy fun!

  34. Poops McGee says:

What’s the name of the song in this video?

  35. Yeebok Shu'in says:

Want ! Schematics link please :)

  36. Hex5x says:

…probably also Tiësto’s management co’s that recalled the vid for using his Adagio remix :P . Sadly it’s all about the royalties these days… But brilliant light fx though!

  37. tahrey says:

Can we has instructables? Like, NOW?

I’ve got the concept of how it works, I’m just stumped for how the hell you wire it.

  38. AnKun says:

Nice mix of Homeworld theme. Best part of this vid.

  39. Jersey Chris says:

I’ll bet that looking at it in person does more justice than the video camera.

  40. Xenon says:

    Maximum warp!

In related news, why isn’t this in mass production yet?

  41. Sarge says:

    Swirly

  42. NScrutable says:

Wow. 639 people have voted on this, and I think the 20 down thumbs were probably people who were people who clicked on the wrong one because they were dizzy or *cough cough* very dizzy.

  43. teatime of Death says:

Figure out how to make a spinning pyramid and make it 15x larger, then we have Daft Punk’s new live show.

  44. Flumper says:

    Want. o.o

  45. jasper says:

OOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHH the light … It calls for me!

  46. Cliff Hauser says:

This is so little and cute!

Back in 2002, some Blue House type people from Seattle made one of these dual-stage scanning gyros, except that it was 12 *feet* in diameter! And of course at that scale there were many more pixels, in small RGB clusters, so it could render colors, not simply RGB stripes.

That version was a featured piece in the Cafe Keyhole at burning man. Oh yeah, and there was a mile-long laser going through the center of the gyro, a laser which also pierced the other major structures.

There is a photograph of the 7′ diameter *prototype* here:
    http://tinyurl.com/bmgyro

Look familiar? (Sadly, I have not seen any photos of the big one at night.)

  47. CLP says:

Ooh. Lava lamps for the 21st century.
Just to be picky – vid needs-
-starting off with slow demo of all the bits, overhead light on
-then gradually getting more complex, overhead lights off
    -Pref less annoying music

    awesomeness.

  48. tim the enchanter says:

daaamn. Sauron updated for modern times.

  49. Nakiamiir says:

Put the plans online so we can build our own too! o_O

  50. GIR-2.0 says:

HOW CAN 30 PEOPLE NOT LIKE THIS?!!!!! THEY HAVE NO SOULS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  51. Bret says:

    Whoa…

    Sorta psychedelic, don’tcha think?

  52. Alias says:

WHERE CAN I GET ONE OF THESE?!?!?!

  53. sk627 says:

scotty i need warp speed in five minutes or were all dead

  54. Kyro says:

My only question is: “HOW MUCH?!?!”

  55. Arascii says:

That’s the most epic version of Barber’s Adagio for Strings I’ve ever heard…

  56. Gi Joe says:

Why did 34 persons give this a thumbs-down.

  57. HikariOkmai says:

    *thump*
That? Oh, that was just my jaw hitting the floor. WIN. MOST EPIC THING SINCE LOLCATS. Oh my gosh, all I could do was stare. They should sell those, I’d buy one for sure!

  58. Cameron Winter says:

This just looks so much like a McGuffin-O-Ultimate-Power from an 80′s sci-fi animated movie. I feel there should be some guy in a black cloak holding it up and screaming “Its mine, THE UNIVERSE IS MIIIIIIIIINE!!!”

  59. R says:

The music got changed when i watched it again (it used to be Adagio for Strings) – anyone know the new one?

  60. James Mizuhara says:

I SAWS ME A BABY UNIVERSE IN THERE!! WITH THAT, I CAN RULE THE WORLD!!

  61. annish says:

Who needs the LHC when you have this? Hello Higgs boson!

  62. Sophie says:

I can’t see the win? Just different colours of light moving really fast.

And the techno music ruined it for sure.

  63. Alzeranox says:

… Pardon me, i didn’t read the posts so this might have already been suggested, but if you did this with yellow, cyan, and magenta lights, could you get a light spinning that creates darkness?

    • Cliff Hauser says:

Sorry, CMY are subtractive primaries, and light sources are additive. That’s why you have to use additive primaries, or a reasonable variation thereof (RGB, RGBW, RGBA).

  64. Kayix says:

It’s official. Humanity can now travel through time and create universes.

  65. kitty kitty says:

i need to clean my pants, i just shit a brick

  66. Blank says:

New idea: Build a large version and use one of these for each LED. Repeat this for insanity.

  67. shiny wanter says:

if there was a scale of how much i want one of those it would be at a such a dangerous level -eyes widen and stares-
